April 17′ Vegas #2

Lol Vegas seems to be a place I frequent. This time we were back for a short weekend with some friends, I love staying at the Mirage and hitting up BARE Pool Lounge.I also like playing blackjack, but this time, since I have been hiking quite a bit at this point, I wanted to hike in Vegas too.

That brought us to Red Rock Canyon. I picked this particular hike (Calico Tanks Trail) because its relatively short, only 2.2 miles. I didn’t want to scare anyone off from hiking with me by picking some grueling hike LOL. It starts off in a canyon and has some climbing, but isn’t a difficult hike.

When you’re about 3/4 of the way in,  you get to see some sheep tanks, natural pools where the sheep and wildlife drink during the summer months.

After hiking all the way up, you get to the edge where you can see the city in the distance. img_9415

This hike wasn’t very crowded, we left the room at around 5am to get out on the trail early. I also got some of the best reflection photos I have gotten all year at this spot. It was rough getting up so early to hike after staying up most of the night, but it was a nice change from our typical Vegas trips, we got back around 11 and spent the rest of the day poolside, it was a perfect weekend.   img_8024
